Seun Richards, a Canadian social entrepreneur and esteemed researcher, has carved an exemplary career path characterised by a profound global impact. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Seun obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Lagos and a Master’s degree from Heriot-Watt University, UK. His professional journey unfolded with a decade-long tenure at prominent IT companies, including Acer, Toshiba, Asus, and Kaspersky, in Dubai, before his relocation to Canada in 2018.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES, ONE DELIVERY AT A TIME

Seun is the visionary founder of Door2Door Pickup Couriers in Canada’s first incorporated city of Saint John. Recognized for its outstanding contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company provided free delivery services and operated zero-emission delivery in alignment with the United Nations SDG 13 – Climate Action. Door2Door Pickup Couriers earned accolades, including being listed among the Top 150 Small Businesses in Canada by Desjardins Group in 2022 and receiving numerous community impact business awards.

Currently undertaking a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Sustainability at the University of New Brunswick, Seun has demonstrated entrepreneurial prowess with successful ventures in Nigeria, the UAE, and Canada.

Key among his notable achievements is the co-founding of the Black Business Professional Networks (BBPN) in Atlantic Canada and his pivotal role in establishing the UBUNTU Founders Network. As a founding board member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) New Brunswick chapter, Seun has been instrumental in fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems. He is affiliated with esteemed institutions such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Institute of Information Management (IIM).

Seun serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of New Brunswick and an Entrepreneurial Advisor at the Centre for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary.

Recipient of numerous awards, including two provincial Cultural Diversity Champion awards, Canada’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year, the prestigious BBPA Harry Jerome Award, the iconic Top 25 Canadian Immigrants award, and acknowledgment as one of the Top 20 Social Entrepreneurs in the world by the University of Pennsylvania (USA), Seun’s accomplishments speak volumes. Notably, he was nominated by the United Nations as one of the 2023 Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent, under 40. Seun’s vision revolves around teaching and impacting the next generation of entrepreneurs, fostering transformative change in local communities globally.
